And just like that, we’re days away from the start of September. Say what? Hard to believe this coming weekend is Labor Day and then it will be the unofficial end of summer. I’m really torn as to whether I want to be sad or excited about this. Autumn is my favorite season (!), but I feel like there is still so much I wanted to experience and cook this summer. Better get on it!
We kicked off Friday with a sweet-spicy scrambler complete with Wyman’s strawberry-blueberry-kale-cherry frozen combo, cheese, and a scrambled egg.
Mason took turns cuddling with us both. ❤ It melts my heart.
After I got home from work, the boys and I relaxed outside, and it was pawesome. I think they’d agree. They didn’t want to go back inside!
I sautéed red onion, peppers, spices, fresh cherry tomatoes, and wild caught sardines in lemon oil with the last of our leftover Jasmine rice. Random but delicious.
Matt made himself a smoothie for dessert while I had a pumpkin spice tea latte with local honey and a small snack for my dessert. We watched ‘Nice Guys’, which neither of us had seen the previews for. It was hilarious!! I highly recommend it.
We slept in quite late and slowly woke up on Saturday. It was amazing. We had waffles, and I topped mine with cheese, avocado, and an over easy egg on one, zucchini-amaranth-banana baby food plus PB on the other, bed of wilted spinach, and fresh black grapes. Hit the spot.
I had a nice lunch from our WF hot bar before heading out to the lake house. Kaci and Drew had been out there since early that morning to let the workers inside to lay down the new carpet.
This is one of the rooms. Kaci did a fantastic job finding a complimentary pattern to the living room, which we chose not to replace. It’s decades old, but it all looks great together!
One of our crepe myrtle bushes is *finally* blooming after, oh say four years.
One of our best friends has been building us our new deck. So exciting to see it come together!
A storm tried rolling in, and I so loved how the sky looked against the water and the trees.
Matt went to dinner with one of his best friends, his friend’s girlfriend, and Matt’s dad. I didn’t feel like showering and joining them, so I stayed home a made this rather epic bowl of oatmeal. Bakery on Main oats made with milk, cinnamon, freshly grated ginger, vanilla, and freshly grated carrot. Topped with yogurt, tahini, mandarin orange, maple syrup, and Earthly Choice chia-hemp-buckwheat cereal.
We finally finished our other Cheerios, so I was able to open and try the Pumpkin Spice flavor. Triple pumpkin threat with pumpkin and roasted pumpkin seeds. PB and a banana not photographed completed my bowl.
Per usual, Matt’s creation made me jealous. Haha. Chia cereal mentioned above with spices, greens, cheese, avocado, and scrambled eggs. So so good.
I finally did Brittany’s 10-Minute Yoga Session, and I have vowed to do it at least once every week. So needed to unwind and relax my mind.
Jackson’s attempt to do yoga. He created the, “Claw Cat” pose.
Avocado toast with garlic hot sauce, salt, and pepper for a snack before I went on a one-hour walk to explore some nearby neighborhoods.
I love living near farm land.
Our place is off in the distance.
After going down to the Y to complete my weights, I came home and made this nice salad. Organic spring greens, cucumber, carrots, aged sharp white cheddar, toasted almonds, maple walnut granola, extra virgin olive oil, and an apple.
Mason and I snuggled while I completed some word finds. It got really ugly outside but never stormed. He’s our special goob. ❤
Dinner was so awesome and took such little effort! Chicken thighs baked with Classico Spicy Parmesan Cream Sauce, rice-quinoa pasta, and steamed asparagus with freshly grated parmesan. We didn’t even need a knife for the chicken because it was so tender.
Hope you all have a wonderful week!
